The voices start early,

repeating

reiterating

They say I am

They say I'm not

They say I can never be

The whispers become truth,

a brainwashing

I question

I wonder

I worry

My identity stolen

who am I

The thief came in the night,

over and over again

unaware of what was being stolen

The truth, slowly replaced

I'm too much

I'm not enough

I'm good

Not the best

I'm fast

Not the fastest

I could be,

more

The voices

What do you want to be

What will you do

What will they think

I already am

I am me,

so many things

The me that laughs

The me that cares

The me that loves what is The thief was me
